Browser Favorites...on CCH Internet Research NetWork

About Browser Favorites Options

You can save your most frequently used CCH documents to your Internet Explorer or Netscape browser Favorites.  In addition, URLs created in CCH Link Express for other CCH resources can also be saved to your browser favorites.

When you save resources to your browser favorites, you will have direct access to recently viewed information from any location on the internet with a simple click of the mouse.

To set your Browser Favorites options:

  • Log in to CCH Internet Research NetWork.

  • Click the Preferences button.

  • Click the Display Options tab, and then scroll down to the CCH Link Express & Browser Favorites section.

  • Select your login method from the following options:

    • Access CCH via secured connection—Select this option to log in to Research NetWork with a secure connection that encrypts all information sent between the browser and the web server.

    • Access CCH with CCH IP Automatic Access (must be an IP customer)—You must select this option if you log in using IP Automatic Access. This ensures that the URLs are constructed correctly for IP access to Research NetWork.

  • When you are finished, click Apply Changes to save your changes.

  • Click the Main Menu option to continue.

To save a CCH document to your Browser Favorites:

  • When you have a document open that you would like to save to your browser favorites, click the Save to Browser Favorites link.

  • The link will appear under the View Document Options title in the document.

Note: If you are using Netscape as your browser, a pop-up box displays telling you how to add the URL to your Bookmarks. Follow the onscreen instructions. When the Add Bookmark window is displayed, enter a name for the URL, select the location for it, and then click OK.

Browser Favorites and the Comments Feature

You will not be able to use the Browser Favorites option if you are using the Research History (Path) Comments feature to track time for client billing. If you want to use the Browser Favorites option, you will need to turn off the Comments feature in Preferences.

To turn off the Comments feature:

  • Click the Preferences button.

  • Click the Set Display Options tab.

  • In the Login section, click the drop-down arrow and select No for both options:

    • Start at the Research History page so I can enter a comment

    • Start by asking me if I want to enter a comment

  • When you are finished, click the Apply Changes button. You will now be able to use the Browser Favorites option.
